About

me3My name is Lisa Kurz.  I am foremost a reader and I’m trying really hard to be a writer.  I write novels.  I write multiple genres, but all of my books have some form of romance in them, archaic to erotic.

I have a nifty list of stuff I’ve written on a Works in Progress page, and hopefully will get some of this stuff published soon.  I am really good at writing, just not really good at trying to get other people to want read what I write.

I take inspiration from everything.  I once thought of a novel concept when some guy on a motorcycle cut me off on my commute home, and I had an imaginary argument with him about who had the right of way, and the next thing I knew I was outlining a biker gang novel.  I am always reading and binge watching something too.

Some of my influences include Rainbow Rowell, Laurell K. Hamilton, Gregory Maguire, Jennifer Armentrout, Anne Rice, Tamara Webber, Kasie West, Jane Austen, Charlotte and Emily Bronte, Sharon Shinn, Naomi Novik and George R. R. Martin just to name a few.  There are loads more.

I’ve been writing since I was eleven, but didn’t really want to be a serious writer until I was in my early twenties.  I took a creative writing class at college and the next thing I knew I was writing my first novel, and completely addicted to the process.  A few years later I met my best friend in writing and reading shenanigans.  We exchanged our first novels, became each other’s biggest fans, and have been encouraging each other ever since.  Though I have a full time job as a leasing agent, I think of myself first and foremost as a writer.  #forlife

I live in Southern California, and am currently working on a BA in Business Administration.  I’ve worked as a leasing consultant for ten years now, and I quite enjoy it a lot because it allows me the freedom I need to write.

I am the proud owner of two ADORABLE puppies.  #dogmom  A nine-year old Border Collie mix named Lily (Kuku) who lives for naps and bacon, and a Jack Russel mix named Kylie (Monkey Bug) who hates loud noises, loves to play tag and is a master escape artist.  I couldn’t be happier with my cute adorable dependents.

Thanks for the general interest.  I’ll try to post as often as I can everything from book reviews (because I read a lot of cool things) and writer stuff.  Hey, maybe even life stuff.  I almost have this adulting thing down, after all.  I like to laugh, so tell me something funny on Twitter. @ellekurz
